Workplace Stress and Technology
It may be enhancing our productivity, but current technology may also be the cause of increased stress in the workplace. The pressure of mastering the Information Technology (IT) revolution fuels workplace stress. Everyone knows what stress is all about; we all suffer from some form of stress or another. It is a common feature in each of our lives. We are all exposed to daily pressures at home and at the workplace; bills, childcare, college expenses, transportation, co-workers, scheduling. Some people are even more productive and energetic when they are under stress. But, the majority of the workers in todays world are suffering from stress caused by the increased move of Information Technology through their organization. "Technology and Stress in the Workplace" by Michael C. Dennis, MBA, CBF, talks about how some of those new technologies that are supposedly helping us with our work are actually hurting us in the long run. Another article entitled, "Neutralizing Workplace Stress The Physiology of Human Performance and Organizational Effectiveness", by Bruce A. Cryer, VP, talks about what we can do to cope with that new stress.

In his article, "Technology and Stress in the Workplace", Dennis states, "because technology in the workplace allows us to be more efficient, we often take on more duties and/or reduce headcount."
