Im sure most people would agree that living in the countryside is generally aesthetically pleasant than living in a town, although that depends to some extent on where in the countryside it is and to a large extent on where in a town it is.

I live in a seven-story block of flats, part of a modern housing development in Bratislava. Those who live in the country often claim, that they would never want to live in town and so live in a flat. However, living in a town or in the countryside has its positive and negative aspects. I am going to tell something about city live.

I thing that town is good place for life. I know, that here isnt very good pollution, that many children be on drugs and that we cant believe other people, but I like a town. It is a big place and I feel very free. For the surrounding villages is a town the center of all activity. People come here from far away to buy many necessities. It seems that most people do most of their shopping in large supermarkets either on the edges of town or edges of Petrzalka. Most villages still have one local shop. People in small villages know the saleswomen, so sometimes they get price reduction. My grandmother lives in one of those villages. Saleswoman in this village is one old woman and she is the biggest scandalmonger. When I want to know some news, I go to this woman. And this isnt in a big town. Here, in Bratislava I go to shop and nobody notice me. Only when I find out that I dont have purse. Then I have a big problem. But in town we have much kind of shops. We have late-night shops or we can just pick up the phone, reserve a table and have a lunch at our favorite restaurant. A town principally means a place where are all kinds of cultural activities concentrated. For example, in Slovakia came a singer-duo Tatu. Their performances were in Bratislava. I cant forget to cinema and theatre. In Bratislava we have 6 small cinemas and big cinemas. But in village they have only 1 (if they have). So. Why "we dont give" one ours cinema? One of negative aspects living in a town is place. Lifestyle in Bratislava is living in a flat. Here is no front or back yard and if there is, its very small. For example, if I want fruit I have to drive down to the market place and buy some, where in countryside I would go in the garden and get it off the tree. When I look out of the window I can see cars, prefabs, factory and many lights. In countryside I can see trees, flowers, birds and meadows. Thats what I like.

I cant say that living in a town is better than living in the countryside or conversely. Custom writing service can write essays on blabla

Love and Hate in One

William Shakespeares Romeo and Juliet convey many themes that deal with human strengths and weaknesses. Two such themes that are evident throughout the play are love and hate. Love and hate appear to be twins of the same mother, who were separated at birth. They are very different in action, but are of the same element. This ambiguity is sustained throughout the entire play. One such rhetoric that Shakespeare uses to highlight the ambiguity of love and hate is oxymoron, for example, "O brawling love, O loving hate"(I.1.164). Shakespeares weaves love and hate together to simultaneously highlights their similarities, although they are very contradictory. On one hand his two leading characters Romeo and Juliet, epitomize unconditional love, which results in their death. On the other hand, the families which are the Montagues and the Capulets who are the embodiment of hate survive at the end of the play. Nevertheless, the audience is overwhelmed by the couples immense portrayal of love. Shakespeare play puts love and hate together making a point that its two sides of one coin. Love and hate is not the only themes that Shakespeare brought out. Fate was also a major part of bringing love and hate together, it draws them together.

Fate seems to lead people toward their destiny. Whenever people have a destiny, they cannot control what happens. The only thing that a person can do is to try to avoid the bad things from happening. Sometimes bad things do occur, but still fate will always bring people together. Thats the main plot of Romeo and Juliet. With all those things happening in the play, thats when love and hate come to part. Romeo plays into the hands of fate, and by him showing determination to spend eternity with Juliet results in their deaths. There are other actions of fate shown in the play which are choices and personalities that Romeo and Juliet had.

The play is about two lovers separated by their feuding families. "From forth the fatal loins of these two foes a pair of star-crossed lovers take their life" (Pro.6, 7). The two foes Shakespeare was talking about were the Montague and the Capulet. Hatred between the families causes Romeo and Juliet to hide their love from their families. After Romeo and Juliet died in the Capulet tomb, the two families realize that hatred is responsible for the demise of their children and in reconciling the love that their children shared, their two families compromised. In the play there are people who did not want Romeo and Juliet to be together. For instance, after Juliet marries Romeo, the Nurse tries to convince Juliet to commit bigamy. She wants Juliet to marry Paris, so that all that will be right with her father and the rest of the Capulet family, but Juliet refuses. During this time Romeo meets Juliet, while he still infatuated with Rosaline. So Romeos infatuation with Rosaline complicates and slows down the process for him to marry Juliet. The author of Romeo and Death, Marilyn Williamson stats that, "Romeos choice of love objects is also significant in fulfilling his self- ordained destiny" (Williamson 1). When she speaks of love objects, she is referring to the two ladies in Romeos life, Rosaline and Juliet. Romeo was looking for the love of his life and someone he can spend the rest of his life with. Fortunately for Juliet, destiny brings her to share the rest of her life with Romeo.

The love between Romeo and Juliet is immediate, dazzling and ultimate. The secret of the play is that the death of the lovers are not result of the hatred of the houses, nor of any other cause except love itself, which seeks death in its own restoring cordial. Love conquers death even more surely than it defeats hate. In this situation love proves rather powerful and even in the midst of death love preserves. An example of the immense power of love, is when Romeo drinks the remainder of the poison Juliet drank because the thinks Juliet is dead. At that point Romeo knows he cannot live without his love, and takes suicide to join Juliet in eternity. That tragedy reveals the strongest expression of love that any person can show. It is only through death that Romeo and Juliet can preserve their love, and not even death can separate the deep love that the couples share. The play also portrays love as unprincipled; it seems as destructive as it is pleasurable. With their passion being so extreme, the love that they experience also appears so exquisitely beautiful that only a few would want, or would be able to resist its power.

Romeo and Juliet are not the only two that desire to be together while esteeming their family traditions. Friar Lawrence wants the same, even though he has no connection with the death of Romeo and Juliet. Nevertheless, Lawrence is still an intentioned person. "In one respect Ill thy assistant be; for this alliance may so happy prove, to turn your households rancour to pure love" (II..6-8). That quote is saying that the only reason he will marry them is to hopefully end the problems between the families. He is a concerned with what is he best for the lovers, as well as their families. Although he poisons Juliet, he does it so that everyone thinks she is dead so that she would not Romeo , instead of Paris. Unfortunately, Friars plans failed, and results in Romeos Death. Nonetheless the risk that Friar takes proves his love for the couple being together forever.

Shakespeare uses many devices in his play. One such device is oxymoron. The word Oxymoron comes from two Greek words. "Oxy" means sharp and "moron" means foolish. It is a contradicting idea, and it is useful in enhancing irony and paradox in the play. For an example, at the end of the balcony scene, Juliet oxymoron speech. "Parting is such sweet sorrow" (II..01). Express her confusion between the sweetness and the sorrow that love brings.

Language is another important tool that Shakespeare use to enhance the theme of love and hate. He uses metaphors, similes, and personification. One of the great personifications in the play is when death is an image as Juliets husband. "And death, not Romeo, take my maidenhead!"(III..17). This language death as a thief a person who stole the love of two people. A literary Critic John Dryden feels that "many images obscured meaning and detracted attention from the subjects they represent" (Gibson 74). Realizing that the image is language, it makes an impact on certain situations and shows the emotions of the characters. An example of that is when Juliet finds out that Romeo killed Tybalt; she was unable to express her contradicting feelings for Romeo. This example shows how significant image and language are in portray many meanings. The language of love and hate also plays the important roles in the tragedy of this play. It operates as light and dark imagery to make the play outstanding, a play with love and hate neither one can exist without the other. Without love there would be nothing to lose. Without death there would be no way to lose it. Romeo uses paradox about love and talks about what feelings he has, "This love feel I, that I feel no love in this" (I.1.18-18).He means he feels love, but he is not in love with being in love. So Shakespeares language expresses the feelings and thoughts in the play.

Shakespeare also uses religion and magic in some parts of the play to describe the love in Romeo and Juliet. "Alike bewitched by the charm of looks" (II.pro.7). Religion plays a huge role in Romeo and Juliets lives. They follow the Christian tradition of marrying before they start their love life together. However, with the love that they share, they begin notice each other, like when Juliet calls Romeo. "The god of my idolatry" (II..11). There Juliet is esteems Romeo to a level of God.

Romeo and Juliet, love is portrayed as an iron in Shakespeares play. It seems that goodness yields misfortune, while evil prevails. In other word, lovers die and the haters live. The couples love ends in death and the familys hatred between each other ends in the conflict with one another, but no one else physically die. It is the human feeling to believe that the good should live forever and evil people should parish.

Romeo and Juliet show true love for one another. They are willing to expel the things that were not important to them for each other. True love is very powerful, in the play as well the real world. Love has not changed within the nature but, with the growth of our society, its expression has changed somewhat. Shakespeare, in this play shows how love and hate is connected together. He also shows how fate plays a major part. The author uses styles such as oxymoron, irony, and language, of romance or death to show the relationship between love and hate..

Top Girls is the story of women, women in Britain in 18. Margaret Thatcher is Prime Minister. Ronald Reagan is President and all is right with the world. At least as long as you are on top. The playwright, Caryl Churchill, approaches the role of women in society at the end of the 0th century with a critical eye to what it takes to be successful and what we all have lost in the process. It is unapologetically both touching and angry.

Chris Honers Interpretation of Top Girls did the play justice, and whilst there were parts that might have needed more contrast and emphasis, I felt that the play was a good interpretation and that some of the themes and issues explored in the play are still relevant to women and men in society today. The play was done utilising a mix of both Brechtian and Stanislavskian elements. The characters were strong characters you could believe in, however the plot was short and episodic, and typical of Epic Theatre. In my personal opinion, I felt that Leah Muller, the actress playing both Lady Nijo and Angie, needed more of a contrast between the two characters. However, you could see in Sophie James, who played Isabella Bird, Joyce and Louise, the actual thought processes and the internalisation. Having said that, all of the actresses managed to create a distinction between the characters that they were playing, this was done in the way they used their body language to convey their thoughts and feelings to the audience, right the way down to the mannerisms and quirks of their individual characters.

I thought that set utilised the space in a efficient and well planned manner. The first scene used a revolve which whilst over-used in terms of revolving was effective as the dinner scene went on, and helped to convey the idea of drunkenness to the audience, whilst letting every member of the audience see the facial expressions of each of the actresses. The background for this scene looked to be a mural that involved stars and gods, which to me seemed to convey that Marlene was at the top. Behind the actual set itself was a very Brechtian Element of darkness, which gave the impression that the actors came from nowhere and went back into nowhere. Since this was an alienation effect to remind the audience that they are in a theatre watching a performance, it helped with the non-chronological order of the scenes in the play.

After the dinner scene, we saw the office, which had a massive attention to detail, from the coffee machine to the 18 wall planner on the wall. In all of the different places that the play takes part in the attention to detail was wonderful. In the office set there were levels that were utilised to show status in the office, with Marlenes desk being on the top level. This set had no feminine touch, and was bleak and blank. It showed us how impersonal and how Marlene lived her life. She didnt want family to interfere with her career and this set of an office showed us this and helped to make us believe that vision of hers. Between the scenes music from the 180s, however since I was born in 185 I couldnt recognise it, yet some members of the audience were "reliving their youth", this once again was adding to the attention to detail for the play and helped to convey to the audience the time period of the play. For the set of the Back Yard and the interview office, it wasnt realistic, which was another alienation effect utilised by the designer, Sarah Williamson, and the director, Chris Honer.

All in all I felt that it was a good interpretation of a play, with some excelling acting performances, and a set that made you think what was going to happen next. The combination of the Stanislavskian and Brechtian elements further enhanced the play and helped us to imagine what it would be like in 18. As well as doing that it made us think about some of the political and moral issues that we can still apply in the year 00 as audience members.
