Its Saturday night and Im in my snug but not skin tight blue spaghetti strap floor length dark royal blue dress, all ready to go out to a very fancy restuarant. Old Country Buffet. As my friend and I climb out of my car in a classy like fashion, we realize that the line to Old COuntry Buffet is at least 50 meters long. Oh My God. I say as my lipstick chalked lips fall to the floor. Glancing over at a fast-food pizza restaurant, my friend and I look at each other. Uh huh. We both say. Pizza is better than some buffet anyway, I thought. About five minutes later, some friends of hours emerge from the middle of the centidpede like line and come up to us. I almost jumped in hyperness. WHazzzzzzup? I say in such a polite way, sticing my tougue out in my dress.

My friends and I eat at the small cafe-like tables provided in the indoor mall, trying not to smear pizza all over our faces before we got to the dance.

Walking across the street to the school, the caffeine from the large Coke was already racing through my blood stream. Hyper as anything and almost jumping my friends began to think I got high before the dance, like most everyone else.

By the time we got to the dance in the cafeteria, the music was pumping, people dancing their butts off, and me, hyper as anything. I was anything but bored. Ready to start jumping as soon as I got there, I raced into the cafeteria and brought my friend , Jimmy , with me. I had never felt so energized at a social event. I felt as if the music was literally flowing through my veins, pulsing with every move, and I was...high. But I wasnt. I was normal but I felt like I was high. Did being high feel like this? Had I had too much caffeine? Damn! I have to suck some helium out of those floating balloons! THe thoughs would not stop racing. Although I had never been to a rave, I thought that this dance felt like one. Euphoric, and as energized as a duracell battery after about 4 hours of charging, I hadnt checked my watch for at least two hours.

About an hour later, I took a break to get some soda and some fresh , dry air. Coke was the drink of choice and the courtyard was the ideal place to go. Cooling off and talking to a few friends who had not gone with me, a couple people asked if I had gotten wasted or high like some of their friends had, but I replied no. It was at that time that a kid I knew in my grade walked out into the courtyard , completely wasted and smoking a cigarette as if it were a joint. He was the most pathetic thing I had seen since the day before...which was the same guy. Anyway, he came up to me and said Im drunk. As it turned out, he had gone to the bathroom and drank a 40 oz. In the bathroom for Gods sake!

A few minutes later, I resumed dancing in the cafeteria. Walking up to ompletely random people, some I knew, some I didnt, I just danced. The majority of guys said they didnt know how to dance. That is such a lame excuse. Maybe they dont but they could at least try! I finally found someone I had been longing to dance with for some time ; he was someone I had somewhat liked but now, now that longing was intensified by a thousand times. I had to dance with him. Grabbing him by the arm (he was drinking a soda in the other cafeteria ; the one with refreshments) I asked him to dance with me. He replied that he was tired but I insisted anyway. He finally gave it. We went into the other cafeteria to dance. A couple seconds later, he got behind me and at first I didnt know what he was doing, but then I realized we were going to dance like everyone else ; the kind of dance I had never done before. I think they call it grinding. He put his hands around my tummy and I held them in place with my own hands. My legs almost about to give out , I kept dancing to the awsome techno song, wishing for it to go on forever yet hoping it would end soon before I could no longer stand up. Maybe my legs were going to go out because I had been dancing now for three hours straight? Maybe. But I kept dancing until it was over, and I hugged him and he hugged back and told him I would see him later. God, it was awsome!

A couple minutes later, a friend and I found some helium filled balloons and thought of nothing but to inhale their contents.

Imagine someone coming up to you and sounding like a smurf while saying WHAZZZZUP? that was what I sounded like. And it was awsome.

Not quite the normal homecoming night but I had such an awsome time. I felt like I was high and all I was on was caffeine and helium. Danced are awsome man!

A Corrupted Nation

How does a nation that is the most powerful in the world have poverty issues? How is it that the rich get richer and yet the poor continue to stay poor? If the government fulfills all of its promises then these wouldnt be issues. But the people that make up the government supply the public with words they think we want to hear rather then actual results. Tomas Sowell describes these people and their words in his book "The Vision of The Anointed". Sowells ideas, my not be targeting the government in particular, but in my opinion his ideas reflect those actions made by the U.S. government. I have developed my opinions in relation to Sowells ideas, and examples. In the book there are such chapters titled, "Flattering Unction", "By The Numbers", "The Irrelevance of Evidence", and "Optional Reality", all of which I will use in this essay to further support my ideas. Also, I will use many points given by John Stossel, in his video "Stossel Goes to Washington". Stossel, questions actions which were wrongfully made, brings about ideas and points that most people wouldnt dare, and recognizes lies and deceit. The government takes our loyalty and trust, for stupidity and ignorance, power is their number one priority, and they have no integrity and are hypocritical. These are all characteristics of corruption. The characteristics are not always recognized for the simple fact that "we the people" trust our government to protect us, but where do we turn for protection from our government?

The government takes our loyalty and trust, for stupidity and ignorance. As said in Chapter One, Flattering Unction, "Few have spent their entire lives outside the vision of the anointed, and virtually no one has been unaffected by it". In other words, everyone is affected by the decisions, and promises made. The first step to recognizing the negativities of these actions and promises, is understanding the vision of the anointed. The anointed refers to the "higher power", and the vision refers to their ideas of what this country should and will be. No matter the situation, or what we say or do, they will do what they think is the proper alternative. This idea is brought about in Chapter Four, The Irrelevance of Evidence. The reason for this is if there is no logical explanation for an action, all they have to do is make something up. An example of this is statistics. Sowell is skeptical of statistics, and he speaks of this in Chapter Three, "By the Numbers". Statistics are used all too often to prove a point. Any idea can be proven with statistics, because "Anyone who looks through enough statistics will eventually find numbers that seem to confirm a given vision" as Sowell writes in the beginning of the chapter. The government gives us data rather then evidence. They tell us what we want to hear. We dont see the results; we only see the promises. Our tax paying money is being used along with promise that will be better of our country, but most of these tactics are ineffective. For example, The Interior Department has spent billions to help American Indians, yet they are still the poorest people in America. Billions more have been spent on public housing, but instead of living in safe homes, low-income families often end up in rundown, unsafe buildings. But when the government is questioned on mistakes that they have made, they continue to use deceit to deny their original intent. In his video, "John Stossel Goes To Washington" Stossel turns the idea of consumer reporting on the government itself. We are all consumers of government services, so shouldnt we ask if things can be done better? The answer is NO! The reason? Because who are we to say what the best alternative to any situation is? In the eyes of the "anointed" we are ignorant people who dont know what is best for us? This is why they choose to make the decisions for us. This is what leads to the power issue.

I believe Power is the number one priority amongst the anointed. They want to make sure that we are lower then them in order to assure their safety. By "safety", I mean that every being in the anointed is well off. They have nice cars, they are financially stable, and they have more power over your life then you do. They decided how much to charge you in taxes. They jack up tax prices and give bogus statements that these taxes are for the "good of the country". They make us think that we benefit from them taking our money. Taxpayers give so much of their hard working money to the government to support these programs, yet there is still no evident improvement. Take teen pregnancies for example, According to the website http//members.tripod.com/teenbirth/, (A site dedicated to helping lower the number of teen pregnancies) Every 6 seconds a US teen becomes pregnant, and every hour 56 babies are born to teen mothers. These numbers are horrifyingly true, as I have seen many of my friends struggle with this issue. There are thousands of dollars given to programs to help lower the numbers, but the rates of teen pregnancies are only raising. Thomas Sowell describes this situation in Chapter , "The Pattern". From pages 17 thru 1, Sowell describes the stages. First "The Crisis" (venereal diseases, pregnancies before marriage, and the emotionally disastrous results of irresponsible sexual behavior amongst teens). This "crisis" was actually not so much of a crisis after all. Sowell writes that the fertility rate among teen girls had been declining for more then a decade, and venereal disease was also declining. A decline in our societys negative issues is what the government calls a crisis? Of course, because this is just another excuse to take taxpayers money! There is nothing wrong with having taxes for bettering our country, but the amount Americans spend on taxes each year is outrageous. According to a graph, on "john Stossel Goes to Washington", taxpaying has gone from 0 dollars over the years to what it is now, (Over 10,000 dollars a year). One woman said that each year Americans pay more for taxes then they do for food, clothes and shelter combined. Once again, the numbers are outrageous. The reason for this is the governments power keeps growing and growing. No one will ever successfully fight the government of the United States of America. Why? Besides being scared, the reality is, No one is powerful enough. The United States Government is a monopoly. Wait a minute!!!! Isnt it illegal to form a monopoly? Why is it okay for them to do it? This seems hypocritical, and over all a lack of integrity on their part. Buy A Corrupted Nation term paper

In The last Chapter, "Optional Reality", Sowell summarizes beliefs of the visions of the anointed in five propositions 1. Painful social situations exist not because of inherent limits to knowledge or resources, or inadequacies inherent in human beings, but because other people lack the wisdom or virtue of the anointed. . Evolved beliefs represent only a "socially constructed" set of notions, not reflections of and underlying reality. Therefore the way by which "problems" can be "solved" is by applying the articulated rationality of the anointed, rather than by relying on evolved traditions or systematic processes growing out of the experiences of the masses. . Social causation is intentional, rather than systematic, so that condemnation is in order when various features of the human experience are either unhappy or appear anomalous to the anointed. 4. Great social or biological dangers can be averted only by the imposition of the vision of the anointed on less enlightened people by the government. 5. Opposition to the vision of the anointed is due not to a different reading of complex and inconclusive evidence, but exists because opponents are lacking, either intellectually or morally, or both. I completely agree with Sowell. He successfully describes the beliefs in an understandable manner. Proposition number 5, coincides with my idea that the anointed see the rest of us as ignorant, and it is only when we oppose their ideas. The anointed are hypocritical and lack integrity. They are allowed to break the rules in which they apply to us. They are never punished for mistakes that they make, yet are quick to punish the rest of us for wrong doings. In another John Stossel report, it shows that billions of tax paying money is unaccounted for. When a private company has a problem such as this, they are quickly targeted and punished. Sounds like a double standard to me!

In conclusion, Thomas Sowell, has written one of the all time greatest books on self-congratulation as a basis for social policy. It provides reality of the visions of those above us. Sowells ideas, my not be targeting the government in particular, but in my opinion his ideas reflect those actions made by the U.S. government. In this essay I have informed you of why I feel that the government is in fact corrupt. I feel that the government not only is deceitful, but unintentionally hurts us as well. They are not an evil power out to get us, however, they do let the lies, power, and hypocrisies, get the best of them. In reading, Stowells, I have learned more about myself as well as those around me. Words can be used in any situation to make anything happen. But it is up to you and me to recognize these scams, and deal with them accordingly. And when I say deal with them, I mean dont let them get the best of you. Show them that you are not an ignorant soul, incapable of making intelligent decisions. You are an educated human being who wont let their words deceive you. Dont accept the corruption any longer!

Prime Minister, Tony Blair

Rt Hon Tony Blair MP, born on 6 May 15, was elected leader of the Labour Party on 1 July 14 as MP for Sedgefield. TONY BLAIR traces his political genesis to the paralysis of his father. In 16, when Blair was 11, his father suffered a stroke while campaigning for a Conservative seat in Parliament. After his illness, my father transferred his ambitions onto his kids, Blair said in an interview with The Sunday Times Magazine 14.

Unlike John Majors, Blairs upbringing was privileged. His father was a law lecturer, and Blair was educated at the elite Fettes College in Edinburgh before going to Oxford for law school in 17. Blair was known as a gregarious student and as the gyrating bass guitar and lead singer for a rock band called Ugly Rumours. Write my Essay on Facts abaout Tony Blair

Blair was a practicing barrister from 176 to 18, specializing in employment and industrial law. He joined the Labour Party in 176, but was disillusioned by some of its main causesespecially nationalization of industry and increased power of trade unionsand its leadership, including Prime Minister James Callaghan, who served from 176 to 17. After a series of labour strikes in late 178a period referred to as Britains "Winter of Discontent," the Labour Party was widely perceived to be controlled by the countrys unions. Thatcher and her Tory Party were able to ride Britains dissatisfaction with the Labour Party to a landslide victory in 17, ushering in an era of Conservative domination that would last for the next two

decades. Blairs first successful foray into politics came in 18, when he was elected to Parliament as a Labour MP from Sedgefield, near his hometown of Durham.

Before entering Parliament, he read law at St Johns College, Oxford, he was called to the Bar at Lincolns Inn in 176, and practiced as a barrister until 18, specializing in employment and industrial law. While working as a lawyer, Blair met his wife in 175. They have three sons Euan, Nicky and Leo, and a daughter Kathryn.

He joined the Labour Party that same year and won a seat in Parliament in 18, where he immediately trumpeted his views as a reformer of a party struggling against irrelevancy. After being trounced by Margaret Thatcher in 187, Neil Kinnock, Labours leader at the time, worked to change the party and promoted Blair. The young politician got his big break when Kinnocks successor, John Smith, died, and Blair vaulted to the top party post.

He entered Parliament in June 18 at the age of 0. He was promoted to the Treasury front bench team in 185 and in 187 he became spokesperson on trade and industry with special responsibility for consumer affairs and the City. He was elected to the Shadow Cabinet in 188, and was appointed Shadow Secretary of State for Energy. In the following year he was made Shadow Secretary of State for Employment, and forged a new industrial relations policy which ended Labours support for the closed shop.

Following the general election defeat in 1, the late leader John Smith appointed him Shadow Home Secretary. He successfully wrested the law and order issue from the Conservatives. A strategy based on the slogan tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime was Labours key campaigning theme that year.

In September 1 he was elected to Labours National Executive Committee, the ruling body of the party. He led, with John Prescott, the drive to turn Labour into a

mass-membership party, and by 17 Labour had more than 400,000 members. Blair represented a new direction in Labour politics, away from the left-wing ideologies and socialist focus that characterized the party in the late 70s and early 80s. He served as opposition speaker for Treasury affairs from 184 to 187 and for trade and industry from 187 to 188. He was elected to Labours shadow cabinet in 188, where he was responsible for energy and employment before becoming home secretary in 1. In his work with home affairs, Blair advocated a hard-line Labour stance towards crime that challenged the dominant Conservative government (now headed by John Major) and paralleled the successful strategy of U.S. Presidents Bill Clintons 1 campaign.

When Blair was elected leader of the Labour Party in July 14, the party had lost four consecutive general elections. Blair embarked on his comprehensive strategy to restructure the party and its platform, changing many of Labours traditional goals to bring them more in line with the majority of British voters. He moved quickly to bring in the essential reforms of the partys constitution and policies, notably replacing Clause IV which was overwhelmingly backed by the party at a special conference in April 15.He placed a new party emphasis on free enterprise and economic reform, coining the slogan "New Labour, New Britain." While critics called him "Tony Blur" and "Tory Blair" and accused him of standing for nothing so much as being elected, Blairs aggressive pursuit of modernization proved effective. By the end of his first year as party leader, Labour membership had increased by more than

150,000 people and the party had gained a strong lead in public-opinion polls.

He used his new position to strike a blow in 15 to the sacred leftist Clause IV of the Labour constitution advocating "common ownership of the means of

production, distribution and exchange." In 16 Tony Blair presented to the party the draft manifesto new Labour, new life for Britain, which set out clearly what new Labour would offer in government. It was endorsed by Conference in October 16, followed by a ballot of the whole membership, and won 5 per cent backing.

In 17 elections Blair campaigned hard to convince the British public that the Labour Party was centrist and fiscally responsible, saying at one point that he would continue the economic policies of his conservative opponent.

On 1 May 17 Tony Blair led the Labour Party to its biggest ever general election victory - the party had a majority of 17. On 7 June 001 he led Labour to a second successive victory in a General Election, winning by another landslide. Labour won a majority of 167. On the steps of Downing Street the day after the election win he described the victory as a mandate for investment and reform.

In May 17, Blair was elected Prime Minister by an overwhelming margin over Major, ending an 18-year stretch of Tory dominance. His success in promoting a resolution of the longstanding conflict in Northern Ireland, as well as his diplomatic efforts to integrate Britain more fully into the European continent, have made him the most popular prime minister in the countrys history. His aggressive stance against Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic and the Serbian military during the ethnic

conflict in Kosovo in 1 made him one of the driving forces behind NATOs air offensive and earned him even more support among the British public.

Though his Labour government seemed to lose much support during such

national crises as the foot-and-mouth disease epidemic that ravaged the countrys livestock in 001, Blair swept to victory in the general election held in June, soundly defeating his Conservative opponent.

As Leader of the Labour Party and Prime Minister, Tony Blair has given new direction to the country and begun to build a better Britain with the introduction of a National Minimum Wage, one million more jobs, smaller class sizes in primary schools, and the biggest ever sustained investment in the NHS.

Famous Quotes

"Power without principle is barren, but principle without power is futile. This is a party of government, and I will lead it as a party of government."

Tony Blair

"I remember hearing him talk and thinking, 'You aint getting anywhere with those ideas, kid. But now Blair is doing things that politicians I grew up with would never have dared to even think about."

Tony Banks, Labour parliamentarian

...we want a union of nations, not a federal superstate, and that vision is shared by the majority of countries and people in Europe. A European superstate would neither have the efficacy nor the legitimacy to meet the global challenge.

Blairs rallying cry no Little England, no Fortress Europe, May 1, 00

This is a just war, based not on any territorial ambitions but on values....No longer is our existence as states under threat. Now our actions are guided by a more subtle blend of mutual self interest and moral purpose in defending the values we cherish. In the end values and interests merge. If we can establish and spread the values of liberty, the rule of law, human rights and an open society then that is in our national interests too. The spread of our values makes us safer. As John Kennedy put it Freedom is indivisible and when one man is enslaved who is free?

Tony Blair in Chicago, April , 1

New Labours big idea is the development of human potential, the belief that there is talent and ability and caring in each individual that often lies unnurtured or discouraged, he said....Mr Blair invoked the experience of his own communist-turned-Conservative father to explain why he had rejected both Thatcherism and traditional socialism in order to embrace a meritocratic vision of equal opportunity for all.

Blair sets out his faith, 14 May 001.
