Milk It Does A Body Good

Milk has been a part of life for as far back as people can remember. It has many positive characteristics that can be explained in many different situations. Lately, it has been advertised in a series of ads using the catch line "Got Milk?" In the magazines, ESPN The Magazine and Good Housekeeping, milk advertisers use these differences between men and women to help attract customers.

In Good Housekeeping, the milk advertisers focus on the common womens problem of osteoporosis to sell their product. They make their point stronger by showing three doctors being x-rayed. They use the phrase, "Prognosis Strong Bones." This easily catches the eyes of older women by focusing on one of the main problems that they face. By offering a solution to this problem, women will be easily attracted to the thought of drinking milk. Most older women will do most anything to help avoid osteoporosis. Milk advertisers also state that milk drinkers might also be able to avoid taking prescriptions if they drink more milk. Everyone knows that most women will do almost anything to save money. This offers another reason to drink more milk. Milk does a good job of focusing on womens issues to sell their product in a womens magazine.

On the other hand, ESPN the Magazine, focuses on younger boys in adolescence. They show a huge picture of a pro basketball player, Kevin Garnett. This player stands at six feet, nine inches tall. This article states, "you add about 15% of your height during your teens." This gives teens the thought of drinking milk in order to reach their athletic goals. If a teen drinks more milk and becomes taller, they will have a better chance of becoming a pro athlete due to their size. This offers a younger kid the chance to reach a dream. Younger kids will do almost anything to make these dreams come true. Milk does a good job of focusing on younger kids since they are the most gullible. The article also states, "…watch out for space shuttles and the occasional meteor." This offers these kids the thought that they might become abnormally tall, maybe even the size of a pro basketball player like Kevin Garnett. The article even shows Kevin Garnett surrounded by clouds. This may offer the thought to a teen that you will be sky high if you drink milk. The teens that look at this ad may believe that milk will help them to have a better life by giving them a better shot at their dreams.

Order Custom milk: it does a body good paper

Although both these articles use the same catch lines they focus on two totally different types of people. Milk advertisers do a good job at focusing on the types of people that would read these magazines. In ESPN the Magazine, they focus on younger sports fans that dream of making it to the big time. In Good Housekeeping, they focus on older women, maybe housewifes, who are getting older and will be soon facing, if not already, the problem of bone decay. They focus on health issues for the older women and dreams for growing teens. The milk advertisers prove the different positives of milk and its versatility. They use more text in the older womens article since they often, not only read more, but like to know more about products they are buying. For the teens, they show a gigantic picture of a pro athlete and offer them the chance to reach his standards. Both these ads conform to their readers interests to sell their products.

AFTER SCHOOL JOBS

What we need from you is to provide us with your detailed paper instructions for our experienced writers to follow all of your specific writing requirements. In a world where getting ahead means less of what you know and more of what youve done, after school jobs can be increasingly beneficial. The popular myths that with a job there is no time for schoolwork or extracurricular activities are simply untrue. A teenager that has a job is apt to learn responsibility and money management, and also receive a head start on the "real world" after high school.

EXAMPLE[blank] is a junior; she has had jobs since she was 15. Her G.P.A has never dropped below ., and she has always been involved in at least three school activities.

One challenge that I have had to overcome, but ultimately grown stronger from is that of finding an appropriate time to finish my homework. I now take full advantage of free class time to work on my assignments while most of my non-working friends usually go home and sit on their sofa for four hours before opening their book bag. Maintaining a realistic work schedule also provides with me with out-of-school study time. (Responsibility in learning to properly budget time and create a workable realistic schedule; teaches discipline by spending available time to concentrate on schoolwork)

Having a job has also taught me to respect authority. Like most jobs available to high schoolers, I am working in the service industry so I constantly deal with people. After being yelled at for undercooked steak or smashed bread, it is much easier to deal with rude people in situations outside of work. I am less likely to lose my patience and I understand that many problems and attitudes depend on circumstance. (Manners and maturity taught and re-emphasized daily through constant interaction)Write my Essay on AFTER SCHOOL JOBS for me

I think another positive was that jobs impact teenagers are that it teaches money management. Nowadays, many teenagers do not understand the value of the dollar. I now think twice before spending $115 dollars on a pair of shoes when I realize that will cost me thirty hours of working. I also have a better idea of what money can buy and what things cost. I also look at taxes much different now; before I worked, I didnt understand what the concept of taxation. After watching my meager paycheck melt away more every week, I understand why sometimes the certainty of taxes seems like the more appealing option. (Valuable money management teaches the value of the $ with concepts that the teenager can understand)

After school jobs are great to prepare for life after high school. While I believe it is important to maintain healthy social life during high school, there are few colleges or jobs that will accept you just based on your extra-curricular activities alone. If you choose your job wisely, there is no reason while you cant stay active in school and work.

(Discipline to strike a balance between work versus reward; ability to discern the importance of extra-curricular activities and the sacrifice of some, not all, activities)

Jobs prepare you for the world after school. In life after high school, things must be planned weeks or even months in advance. If I need a job, I know how to apply; I know how to pass an interview; I know how to impress authority figures all skills I will need after I graduate. (Students obtain valuable work experience from having a job, something that cannot simply be learned in the classroom.)

As long as students show a little maturity, there is no reason why jobs cant benefit teenagers tremendously.

Dont Have One Yet but planning on writing one. Heres one that you already have....The short story "Carnal Knowledge", by T. Coraghessan Boyle, is the story of one mans inner conflict between his lust for a beautiful activist, and his own convictions. Despite his lack of interest in Animal Rights issues, he finds himself embroiled in a steadily escalating fight for its cause. This struggle exists not because of any moral obligations, however, but to win the respect of his dear Alena, who personifies the saying Love me, love my cause. Because of the internal clash of interest, the story absolutely drips with irony. It is this irony that draws me to the story. Through this ironic conflict, the author defines the main character, moves the plot through its most significant actions, and develops the theme of the danger present in trying to share others ideals in order to gain acceptance. The main character, Jim, makes his opinion on the issue of Animal Rights known very early on. Beef, mutton, pork, venison, dripping burgers, and greasy ribs - it was all the same to me, food, the bodys fuel, something to savor a moment on the tongue before the digestive tract went to work on it. (4) However, he is willing to hide his convictions for the sake of a beautiful girl he meets on the beach, ironically, while being pissed on by her dog. His immediate thoughts of aggression towards the dog melt away, as he glances at its owner. I was on my feet now, murderous, glad to see that the thing was hobbled - it would simplify the task of running it down and beating it to death. (4) Alenas appearance stupefies him, and he is easily taken in by her easy grace. I was a little disconcerted at this point - I was the one whod been pissed on, after all - but my anger was gone. (4) In this encounter, we begin to see the truly transient nature of Jims emotions. This speaks volumes about the type of person he, and perhaps we all, are. As Alena becomes closer and closer to Jim, her cause becomes more and more ingrained upon him. Suddenly, protesting Animal Abuse becomes commonplace, and Guerilla Actions doesnt quite seem out of the question anymore. The fact that Jim doesnt half believe in the cause seems irrelevant, as he is just as incensed as the other protestors. "Alena slashed in the air with her limp mink, and the blood sang in my ears. Murderer! I screamed, getting into it. Torturer, Nazi! The strings in my neck grew very tight. I didnt know what I was saying,(47) The appearance of Rolfe, however, changes matters. While he is still naïve enough to participate in the Turkey raid, the cold wall of reality is fast approaching. The very next morning, Alena leaves for Wyoming, and Jim forlornly starts back for home, his activist pretensions shed. Were the plague on this planet, dont you know that? Suddenly I was angry. Seething. Here Id crouched in the bushes all night, covered in turkey crap, and now I was part of a plague. I was on my feet. No, I dont know that. (54) The final plot element to affect his internal struggle is the fate of the turkeys he toiled to save. The sight of their viscera spread across the highway does not disgust him, but quite the opposite occurs. This final failure of his life as an activist returns his personal perspective. Jim has come full-circle, to dwell once again in the world of Murderers and Torturers. I thought only of the cavern opening inside me and how to fill it.Meat, and I spoke

Buckley vs. Valeo, this case in 176 provided a basis for groups to spend a lot of money to support political candidates. The Buckley case involved a campaign finance reform act in 171. Congress passed the Federal Election Campaign Act of 171 (FECA), and changed it in 174, in a effort to control the spending and influence or special interest groups. Unhappy with several FECA parts, Buckley, among other federal officer holders and candidates for office, and some organizations brought suit in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. The suit was against various federal officials, Valeo, Secretary of the United State Senate, and against the FEC created by the act. Thinking the provisions of the 174 amendments were unconstitutional, Buckley, and others, wished to prevent the amendments form affecting the 176 election. The provisions were(1) Expenditures in support of a "clearly identified candidate" by groups or individual needed to be limited () Disclosing the source of every contribution and expenditure over $100 and requiring detailed reports of contributions and expenditures () establishing a public funding system for political parties (4) to enforce the act an eight member commission, the FEC, would permit a majority of the members to be selected by Congress.

The United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia rejected Buckleys attacks on FECA, for the most part. SO Buckley, and others, to their case to the United States Supreme Court. The Courts ruling was complex with justices agreeing to and disagreeing with certain parts. But they did agree on basic issues. The Court found contribution limits good so candidates would not depend on large contributors and their influence. The court also ruled, on that same act, the expenditure restrictions on political committees were unconstitutional. The Court also stuck with the record keeping and disclosure provisions of FECA. The Court thought the provisions serve an important purpose to the government in informing the public as to whom the contributions and corrupts the political process. The Court supported public funding of presidential campaigns. The Court held unconstitutional the previsions allowing Congress to select the majority of the members of the FEC.

Buckley legalized unlimited independent expenditures by individuals, wealthy people and groups, and that made him happy. The Court viewed spending to express political views as a type of speech. In 17 further amendments to FECA let spending limits on money given to political parties directly to be used for activities such as volunteer efforts, voter registration, and for campaign materials. "Soft money" can not be given to specific candidates or to the candidates election committees but, could go to the party as a whole. Cheap Custom Essays on Six Degrees of Seperation

The decision in the case was the court found some provisions constitutional, for example the limits on contribution, and other things it found unconstitutional, an example of that would be provisions on expenditures and the way the Federal Election commission members were selected. The decision greatly changed campaign finance laws. The biggest change was the finding that no restrictions on contributions from individuals and groups could be as long as the contributions were not directly part of an election campaign.

The poetry and play of "The Taming of the Shrew" is an epic comedy and drama of the unique views on why the characters marry whomever they did for true love and true greed. Many people have different opinions on what reasons the characters have to marry the people that they did. On my opinion, I believe the characters have chosen the people for more sacred reasons than greed. Overall, the poetry "the Taming of the Shrew", shows many dimensions to love than what some people comprehend.

In this story, different characters elaborated on whom they want to marry, and what reason he or she had to marry this certain person. In this story, many of the male characters, like Petruchio, went to Padua to marry a wealthy woman just for money reasons, not love. As this story progressed, the true love blossomed from greed. As many characters showed their devotion to each other, some played tricks on each other and others wouldnt open themselves up to the idea of actually loving other characters. For instance, in this poetry Bianca always "played" Hortensio from the day he acted as her music teacher. She would always act as if she liked Hortensio very much but she never wanted to marry him. Also, Kate would never open up to Petruchio, so she insulted him and resisted to be with him. The reader gradually see Petruchios devotion to "tame" Kate through the hardest of times and transform her into a model of society. Obviously there is a grand amount of love in this story, and you have to be blind not to notice that.

Many characters, in belief, marry each other for reasons of love than greed. It seems as if the characters lead the readers to believe the characters are marrying for greed purposes. What is apparent is each male character who wanted to marry a wealthy woman had a large challenge to get her love. For instance, Bianca was giving Hortensio a hard time to earn her hand in marriage. Also, Petruchio had to act just like Kate and show her the pain she is expressing towards others. Each character had to show the woman he was marrying they are marrying her for love, the female characters saw what they were doing so they made them work. Order Custom Essay on View of Marriage in the Taming of the Shrew

Each male character showed different methods to win approval of marriage. Every male character had their ups and downs on being trusted by the women. Petruchio had to be able to talk to Kate just to get started with marriage. Eventually, he had to act just like Kate to change her so everyone will approve her into society. Petruchio didnt have to do that but he did just for her sake. That is true love. Bianca gave Hortensio a very tough time because she wanted him to express his devotion to her. She wanted to see him try to prove that there is love if there is marriage, not just for money. Definitely there are many different views of love that are expressed by each character.

As said before, "the taming of the shrew," is an epic story of which love triumphs over stubbornness. Almost all characters swallowed their pride and got along with their partner. Not all the characters had the luck that others had in marriage, but most did. Overall this showed many aspects of love that came from nowhere.

Martha Stewart and the question of Insider Trading

Martha Stewart has been in the news for the past several months because of allegations that she is guilty of insider trading. Stewart sold about ,000 shares of ImClone stock days before the Food and Drug Administration rejected the application for ImClones cancer drug, Erbitux. What makes it even more suspicious is that Martha Stewart is a close friend of Sam Waksal, who was the CEO of ImClone during this scandal. Waksal has since been put in jail for insider trading.

Stewart claims that it is just luck that she happened to sell her shares just before the announcement was made public and that she had no prior information about it. She said that she had a prior agreement with her broker, Peter Bacanovic, to sell her shares if the stock dropped below a certain target price. However, Bacanovics assistant, Doug Faneuil, has told the Securities and Exchange Commission that no such agreement was ever made. If these allegations are true, then I think that Martha Stewart is guilty of insider trading.

The crime of insider trading is the illegal use of nonpublic information about a company to make a profitable security transaction. This is exactly what Martha Stewart did. She sold shares a few days before it became public that ImClones Erbitux was not going to be approved by the FDA. Therefore, she sold her shares in the company before the stock price dropped, and avoided a nearly $00,000 loss.

The argument that exists is that it may be that Stewart got the news through Bacanovic that people in the know at ImClone were selling and that she should sell, too. Or she may have simply been advised that this was a good time to sell ImClone. And that if she did not learn directly or indirectly about Erbitux from company officers then she is not guilty of insider trading.

I disagree with this argument because of the fact that Stewart had such a close relationship with Waksal. This I think looks very unfavorable for Stewart because of the fact that Waksal admitted to insider trading himself, as well as to tipping of his daughter to sell her stock as well.

One of the first things that can be done to reduce the number of insider trades is to educate people further. I dont mean this necessarily for officers of publicly held companies, because I feel that they are pretty well educated about when or when they are not allowed to buy or sell stock, but I think that people who have close relationships with these officers need to become aware of what is legal and not legal. Officers and directors of these corporations have a big networks of people they talk to and are involved with everyday, therefore I dont think it is all that hard for an "outsider" to gain inside information.

Another idea that can be looked at in order to limit insider trading is to not allow officers and directors and their family members to own stock in their company. Although this is not something that I can ever see happening and this is not something that would have stopped Martha Stewart, I think that it is something that should be considered. With the number of unethical things are going on today in the business world, it wouldnt surprise me if insider trading is even more prevalent than we think.

The issue relating to human development have come to the fore in the last few decades because of the fact that the benefits of economic growth do not necessarily accrue to all sections of the community automatically. The ultimate objective of social and economic changes is human development which has been defined as a process of enlarging human capabilities and choices. Apart from the basic necessities such as food, clothing and shelter, other human choices include long life, good health, adequate education and participative decision-making. This, human development is multidimensional involving political, social and economic elements. It is not, therefore, surprising that countries do not rank identically on the income scale and human development scale.

India has done well on many dimensions of human development over the past four decades. Life expectancy was just years in 151 and in 11 it increased to 5.4 years. Infant mortality rate which stood at 146 per thousand in 151 came down to 80 in 11. The literacy rate has gone up from 16.7 percent in 151 to 5. percent in 11. Not withstanding the above achievements, India is still in the category of low human development as per the reports of UNDP. Further, the human development in the country is not uniformly spread and there is widespread inter-state variation in it.

The study intends to measure inter-state variation in human development by constructing human development indices for major states of India. The year of study is 11 as the reliable data pertaining to various aspects of human development are not available for later years. The methodology used in the study is similar to that of UNDP. UNDP has designed the methodology for constructing human development index with the objective of inter-country comparision. We have modified this methodology, while retaining its basic structure, so as to make it suitable for inter-state comparision in India. Further, unlike UNDP, we have included urbanization also in the HDI. Thus, the HDI in our study is based on four elements viz. life expectancy, educational attainments, real per capita SDP and urbanization.

Our study shows that though, India is in the category of `low human development as per the human development reports of UNDP, there are three states in India viz. Kerala, Maharashtra and Punjab who are in the category of medium human development. Keralas achievements are exceptional in the sense that the level of human development has been achieved despite low per capita domestic products. However, the credit for this achievement goes more to non-governmental organizations rather than government. However, there are many states in India whose HDI is less than 0.0, which means very low level of human development. Write my Essay on Human Development Index for me

The variation among the states in terms of life expectancy and literacy rate is quite alarming. The gap between the two states, Kerala and Bihar, in terms of life expectancy is of 1.5 years and that in terms of literacy rate is of 1. percentage points.

We can conclude by saying that the level of human development is quite low in many states of India and there is widespread inter-state variation in it. However, we can not wait for substantial increase in income to improve the human development. An all out effort has to be made to improve it.

The Many Meanings of Words

On September 1, 1, Hitlers forces invaded Poland as the rest of the world watched. The ramifications of this were immense for the Jewish people, as many of them were rounded up and shipped off to concentration camps. Hitlers ideas and actions as frightening as they seemed, were far from original. Mussolini rose to power in Italy and the fascists were the ruling party in Spain. Europe and her Jews were burning. W.H. Auden in "September 1 1" could not help but be overwhelmed by the tragic events of his generation.

Auden was born February 1, 107, in York, England. He was in Germany during the rise of Fascism and fought in Spain against the fascists during the thirties. Soon after he sought refuge in the United States, which is where he wrote his famous poem September 1, 1. The poem was written in response to the nazi conquest of Poland, which Auden viewed as yet another victory of Fascism. Although the poem has no direct reference (aside form the title) to the events of September 1, 1 Auden includes many innuendos of the day. For example the lines at the end of the second stanza, the mention of Hitlers birthplace, and the beginning of the last stanza "defenseless under the night"

Auden uses many historical references in his work. Auden refers to Martin Luther, the initiator of the Protestant Reformation, because he is one of the sources of German nationalist anti-Semitism. Luther anti-Semitic themes were carried out to the letter by the Third Reich on Kristallnacht in November 18. Adolf Hitler considered Luther a great German, and the Nazi party institutionalized his anti-Jewish rantings. He also makes mention of the town of Linz which is where Hitler was bon and where he declared the Anschluss in the year 18. Auden uses historical references to show the timelessness of his ideas. He speaks of the Ancient Greek philosopher Thucidides who was exiled due to his democratic ideas. Auden is saying that unless history is learned from history will be repeated.

Order Custom september 1 paper

Auden was able to write the poem in a way that many people were able to attach the feelings they felt on the dreadful day of September the 11th. The last two paragraphs of the poem speak about the skyline of New York. The skyline, which Auden was speaking of, contained those two giants which came crashing down. Many people were able to connect with the words of the poem for that reason. The line at the beginning of the poem also connected with peoples feeling on September the 11th. "The unmentionable odour of death Offends the September night" was able to quantify the feelings of people at the time.

Audens poem may have been used to describe the events of September 11th for another reason. The main idea of the poem is that history, unless learnt from, is bound to repeat itself. After the tragedy that befell the United States on September 11th many people made a conscious effort to learn from the mistakes that led to the tragedy and assure it would never happen again. Audens poem put that idea into words.

September 1 1 is a poem for the ages. It is very complex and can be read in many different ways to mean many different things. The poem can conjure memories of the terrible tragedies of yesteryears or it can remind us of a time so recent the images are fresh in our minds. The poem evokes memories of famous men and shows us how even greatness is in the eye of the beholder.

In order to eliminate any of the plagiarism issues, it is highly recommended that you do not use it for you own writing purposes. In case you experience difficulties with writing a well structured and accurately composed paper on september 1, we are here to assist you. Essay about "Most wanted"

Most wanted is a classical story about family problems. This story could be a story from real life, and maybe it is. The family seems very normal, like a typical family with two kids, two adults, and that is it. For example on page 1, line 5-6"…row that flared up over the nine oclock news…" It is described like the nine o clock news is just a normal everyday habit. When I have concluded that it is a typical family, then I have to look at the typical problems that come along with these normal families. For example on page 1, line 1 "My parents engrossed by other matters, failed to realise…"

Here we can see that the parents have other things to care about, which is more important to them than their kids.

About the narrator you can conclude that she is the person in the family who is given less attention. I can say that, because we do not hear much about what she is doing, or her feelings (except from the last line of the story). She is the older sister, who has to accept the fact that her parents fight all the time, that she has to be loyal to her brothers and sisters, and the fact that her parents do not have time for her

Cheap University Papers on Most Wanted

The relationship between her parents seems okay but it is not. It is clear that the parents do not agree on how to raise heir kids. We are told on page 1, line 7 "My dad was not our favourite for collecting us from a friends house." This sentence makes it clear that the parents are doing things in separate ways, also when it is about their kids. From my point of view, this may be the reason that the parents split up in the end.

The problem about Michelle stealing is caused by the bad relationship between the parents. Michelle probably just wants more attention and she believes that she will get that by doing something bad. For example if you take a look at page 1, line 1 "For the first time in months, Michelle had got dads full attention" Michelle continues stealing because that way, she gets what she wants.

The title "most wanted" is a symbol for, what the members of the family want the most. Michelle wants attention. The mother wants to get out of the bad relationship with the father. The father wants the perfect all American family. The narrator or the I have the typical puberty problems about sex and friends, she has need like all other youngsters, and she just wants to know her real identity. I do not have quotation to underline my allegation, but I think you can tell from the whole story.

In conclusion, this is a story, which has focus on sex, parents vs. kids, friends and family. All in all it is a story about puberty. Everybody can compare this story to their own lives, because it describes very straight in its language and composition.

Translation

Friendships, relationships and families mean a lot to our well-being. But not many people think about the fact that these kinds of relations also affect your health. A close attachment to others improves the general quality of life, and with that also the health because these two things go together.

All available information show that it is both mental and psychical damaging if there is trouble in friendships and relationships or if there is any problems with colleges Therefore stick to your friends and girlfriends Good maintaining networks has a big importance for human lives.

Who is Barry Bonds? Is he just the San Francisco Giants Leftfielder, or is he todays legend?

His numbers suggest that hes a legend. After all he does hold the single season home run record at 7. Hes number four on the all time home run list with 656. Hes the only member of the 500/500 club (500 home runs, 500 stolen bases.) Hes eighth on the all time slugging percentage list and holds the single season record for slugging percentage with .86%. Hes an eight time gold glove winner and also received five MVP awards. To top all that off hes a 1 time all star. Those are legendary numbers. Even Hall of Fame numbers.

Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, and Hank Aaron, these men are legends. So whats the difference between these players and Bonds? Attitude and Love for the game. A legitimate legend is a great player and a good guy. Players like Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle and Hank Aaron were the best of their time. They are the men who built the great game we all play today. They played for the pure love of the game and were also men of character. Bonds on the other hand definatly has the numbers, but his attitude needs and adjustment.

Men of character never make comments about the great ones like Bonds did when he said"Willies number is always the one that Ive strived for, and if it does happen, the only number I care about is Babe Ruths. Because as a left-handed hitter, I wiped him out. Thats it. And in the baseball world, Babe Ruths everything, right? I got his slugging percentage and Ill take his home runs and thats it. Dont talk about him no more."

Wipe Ruth out.

Dont talk about Ruth no more.

What was he thinking? Better yet who does he think he is, God? ESPNs Adrian Wojnarowski had this to say about Bonds comments. "This is Barry being Barry, right? Brutally honest, telling the truth that nobody can handle. Only, this isnt the case. Barry Bonds doesnt get it. He never has. Never will. Because when Bonds has finally finished baseball, hell be wiped out. Theyll talk about him no more. Bonds can take Ruths slugging percentage, his home runs and it wont matter. Babe Ruth still will be the greatest baseball player ever."

Wojnarowski is right about Bonds. "Theyll talk about him no more". When people look back at Bonds theres no doubt they will remember his statistics, his records and appreciate his greatness. But thats all hell be remembered for.

Babe Ruth is still remembered today as the greatest to ever play the game. He played when pitchers still hit. When there were no multi million dollar contracts. When there were no performances enhancing drugs. Ruth played for the pure love of the game and that says something about him.

Lets face it; Bonds along with other players have made us suspicious of steroid use. I think there should always be an astric next to Bonds statistics and records. Bonds in his previous twelve seasons, never hit more than 50 home runs. Then out of no where he hits 7 in 001. My question is how does a man in his late 0s have such a rapid growth in the size of his biceps and scull. He may not be guilty of steroid use but hes definatly a suspect in my book.

Bonds can say what he wants. He can take Babe Ruths slugging percentage and his home runs. But he will never be the legend that Babe Ruth is. Bonds is right, although he doesnt believe it, Babe Ruth is everything and always will be.

Please note that this sample paper on barry bonds is for your review only. Some ,400 years ago, Qu Yuan, a respected Chinese poet, scholar and statesman, drowned himself in the Mi Lo River to protest the corrupt Chu dynasty. The local fishermen who greatly admired Qu Yuan, the story goes, raced their boats out in a failed attempt to save him. All the while, the fishermen beat their drums and thrashed the water with their paddles to drive away both fish and evil spirits from Qu Yuans body.

Thus, the sport of dragon boat racing was born.

Paddlers observed that tradition Saturday and Sunday at the sixth annual California International Dragon Boat Festival at Jack London Square.

As usual, the Oakland-based International Dragon Boat Association hosted the event. Write my Essay on Ancient sport thrives in Jack London Square cheap

(Dragon boat racing) goes back thousands of years, IDBA founder and president Shirley Gee said. At the time, it brought communities together once a year. Here, weve got corporate teams, community service teams and weve got youth teams.

In August last year, the IDBA sponsored both the California International Dragon Boat Festival and the U.S. Dragon Boat Federation national championships. At the national championships, the mood was fun, but also very competitive.

The California International Dragon Boat Festival, instead, is more of a -- well, festival. Its a friendly celebration of a cultural event.

Weve got the Skyline (High School) Key Club, the Alameda (High) Key Club and the Oakland High Key Club, Gee said. Here, they can get their community service hours in and do it in a way thats fun.

Also among the teams taking part were the Piedmont Dragons and the Alameda Dragonflies. The races involved boats going 500 meters up the estuary in front of Jack London Square.

Those observers unfamiliar with the sport were in for a treat. Dragon boating involves 0 paddlers (not rowers, please) seated side-by-side in 10 rows of two working in unison to the beat of a drummer. In the back, a steerer guides the boat in the direction it needs to go. When everything works in sync, dragon boat racing becomes most pleasurable to watch. One can easily appreciate the rhythm and precise timing required to excel in the sport.

At last years nationals, dragon boatings mass appeal clearly was evident as people of many ethnicities from various parts of the country took part in the competition. From simply eyeballing the festival participants Saturday, it seemed a greater percentage was of Asian descent than was the case at last years nationals. Still, the sports crossover appeal was evident.

I think its a sport where you have to be athletic, and its a good way to admire other cultures, said IDBA board member Francisco Flamenco, an Oakland resident originally from El Salvador. Usually, (what most people experience) is a street festival, but this gives a different view of Chinese culture.

Unlike the mainstream sports in this country, nobody gets rich racing dragon boats. Nonetheless, those who value the finer qualities of sports certainly will appreciate the athleticism, stamina and teamwork required in dragon boat racing.

Somewhere, one thinks, Qu Yuan is most happy.

Summative Essay

Death of a Salesman

One of the major conflicts in this play is created by Willy Loman and his son Biff. They have different dreams Willy wants his son to be the best and have success, but Biff wants to be himself.

This is presented clearly when the boys and Willy are in the yard throwing the ball and Willy is telling Biff what he is going to do with school and makes decisions for him. What Biff really wants is to work outside with his hands and not be stuck on a subway in the summer when its hot and sunny. Mixing Cement (61)Custom writing service can write essays on Death of a Salesman

The next conflict in the play is between Willy and Happy and how he always tried to please his dad, but he was not ever interested. A perfect example of this happening is when Happy tells his dad that he is losing weight and that he is going to get married, Willy hears him but the only thing that he is worried or even cares about is Biff. The ironic part of it all is that Biff could not live up to his fathers expectations but still Willy paid all of his attention to him and that Happy could and was doing everything his father wanted. It almost seems as if Happy was the better son and yet Willy didnt even as much as acknowledge him the slightest.

Another conflict that was a big part in this play was between Willy and Charlie. Their relationship was very confusing in the sense that Charlie being the successful businessman who has everything going for him, he has a smart son, lots of money, is well respected and still Willy belittles him. This was different because the better man is the one that is made to look like the chump because in Willys eyes he has everything and doesnt need any help from anyone and is in a state of denial. This comes out when Willy barges into Charlies office and is insulted when Charlie offers him a job after he had just been fired, but he still asks for the loan rather than taking the job which was very confusing and adds character to Willy.

The last and most important conflict in the play would have to be between Willy Loman and his loving Linda. Throughout the play we the reader/ audience notice that on several occasions Willy puts her down or ignores her or just plain old hurts her feelings. This shows a lack of respect towards the mother of his two children and the woman he loves, or at one time loved.

The way he shows disrespectfulness to her is when at the beginning when Willy comes home from work and asks her how much all the bills are and what she spent all the money on, when the real fact is it was mostly his fault or spenditures on the car and things that they really needed. Another thing where this became clear was with the affairs, cheating on your wife is quite possibly the biggest form of disrespect that one could do to a wife; let alone anyone but your wife. To go along with that he got mad when Linda mended her stockings, we sense that Willy has a mind full of guilt.

The reason why Willy is involved in all of these conflicts is because he had the wrong dreams. His idea of being successful was different than everyone else that is what created conflict. He was reliving his life through his kids to be a success but in the end resulted in the death of a salesman.

Discussion

In conclusion, the substance p-Dichlorobenzene has an average melting point of 5.4°C. Also, p-Dichlorobenzene can re-crystallize, when the temperature gets cold enough. Another conclusion I came to in this lab was that the melting point of p-Dichlorobenzene is lower than the boiling point of water. In addition, its freezing point is higher than that of water.

One source of error could have been the time it took me too first realizes the p-Dichlorobenzene was melting then look at the temperature. This would have raised the temperature which I recorded. Another source of error could have been the re-crystallizing of the p-Dichlorobenzene. It might have changed a slight bit or was more of a liquid than before. This could have raised or lowered my recorded temperature for its melting point. My percent error was .755%.

Real life applications for p-Dichlorobenzene include the fumigation of agricultural fields and for mothproofing clothes. It can be used for these purposes because p-Dichlorobenzene is a toxin that acts as a pesticide.

Today I sit at my desk and contemplate if the religious pressures from some religions to their followers are too much. Many of us have been baptized, confirmed, and attended church since we can remember and even before then. We all have been instilled with the same basic stories, values, and commandments. Yet out of all the things we have been told the one that sticks in my mind the most is to have a child out of wedlock is not acceptable.

Two weeks ago my cousin Patrick and his girlfriend Kelly gave birth to a baby Girl, Madison Skyler. As in many cases of the day our family was there to support them through this time. Patrick graduated from high school this year and is now a 17-year-old father. The future look bright and the family are closer because of this joy. Our family doesnt look at this birth as something that broke the religious rule that had been instilled in us. Yet, I think, that we would have broke a bigger rule of loving your family if the family had shunned them.

As recently as June 8, 00 another person that I knew gave birth, but the only thing was that I didnt even know that she was pregnant until my best friend Katie called me and told me that this girl had been arrested for first degree murder of her new born child. As the story goes Jenny Sotomayor had gotten pregnant out of wedlock. Being that she and her family were hardcore Christian Scientists she feared that in telling her parents that she was pregnant they would disown her. So she hid the pregnancy. She gave birth in a toilet of her bathroom and suffocated the baby. She then put it in a box on shelf in her closet. A day later her mother found the box and Jenny was taken to the hospital with the baby. She later was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. She has put in a plea of not guilty. Her lawyer is trying to say that the due to the familys religious beliefs Jenny did not seek medical care and thought that she was giving birth to a still born child. Also because of her religious beliefs he says that is why she did not tell her parents of the pregnancy. She did not want to be shunned form her family.

Are religious beliefs and the harshness of what we are taught in Sunday School really worth this kind of pain? If Jenny had been taught that love is the gift of forgiveness would she have done what she did? If her religion had not forbidden her from medical care would that baby still be alive? I think that sometimes many hardcore religious people dont see that in instilling the rules of the religion into children that they always have to let them know that there is forgiveness for your sins, and because my family was taught that we looked past the part about Pat and Kelly being pregnant out of wedlock and saw that they need our support and love to help bring Madison into the world. Where as, Jenny must have not been taught that because if she had she would have told her parents and maybe none of this would have happened.

I have heard commented that a persons ride reflects his/her personality. Some would say this holds true only if everyone could afford to drive any car, or bike-if one prefers-of his/her choosing. I do not believe this to be so. And while everyone would drive a lexis or Lamborghini if they could, reality dictates that people buy cars they can afford. Therefore, in more cases than not people have gripes or, dare I say immense grievances with the cars they drive. I myself, have a few, to say the least. And while Im sure I could write a small book on all the things I hate about my car, I will --out of decency-- indulge you with only the three things I hate the most.

First off, let me say this. I could passionately invoke a heady rush of all the grandiose visions I have pertaining to my hope, wish, dreams, that someday Ill be blessed with a car worthy of a man greater than I. However, until that blessed day arrives, I will humbly drive the car I have been delt. And as I do this, I can not conceive of, nor conjure a way to hide the simple fact that my car, for lack of a better word, is a piece of crap. And as one might guess, I could add a whole subcategory (elaborating at great length) or appendix to this paper for that mater, listing all the ways this holds true. Be it, the busted head light,

the crappy engine, the bald tires, or the rag for a gas cap, dripping all the time. Yes, the car Im speaking of is unequivocally a piece of crap, This, Im sad to say is an evident and indisputable fact.

And while the premise of my assumptions in the previous statement holds true to a lot of people relating to the cars they drive, I have other issues worth delving in to concerning my manifested hate stemming from my car. One would be the hood -more appropriately- whats under it, or should I say what is not. To this day I wish I had purchased something with a bit more gusto, because I, admittedly, like (prepositional usage) most guys, like fast woman, fast music, and fast cars. Therefore, it pains me to say, the road is no place for a car like mine, whose response time is as slow as a PBS documentary on Millard Fillmore.Cheap Custom Essays on Three reasons my car is a piece of crap

Last but certainly not least, the one thing Id say I hate most about my car is the fact that it is just that, a car. Every time I drive it I wish Id had bought a bike in its stead. I say this for many reasons; for instance, I believe there is something to be said for those congenial things like the rev of an engine, an open road, and the wind in ones hair. I can conceptualize one of these days Ill go and trade it in for a bike, making me a much happier man.

As Ive already noted, I could write a small book, or large one for that matter, on all the things I hate about my car; however, this is not my intention. I will say this. What a person drives is their choice, more often than not. And while there are so many things I hate about my car, it is what I choose. Hopefully, some day Ill be able to drive something which gives me nothing to complain about.

As a child, we are very unaware of who we are and definitely who well one day become. Social interaction within the social setting plays a large role in shaping our personality. And, understanding ones gender role has an all-around impact here. Developing into a man or woman takes much more than just hitting puberty and acquiring a jolt of hormones. By socially interacting with the environment around them, children are able to process information which seemingly shapes their gender role.

Even as a toddler I was somewhat aware of what it meant to be a boy or a girl. How? The media. For many, many moons now it seems as if the media has set a standard for what little boys and little girls look like. Its all in the colors pink and blue. Even at the hospital, babies whove just popped out of the womb are color coordinated with pink and blue gowns. The media has even coined a name for a specific color which represents baby boys baby blue. Its that simple and even though there are many other ways that the media inadvertently establishes gender roles, it seems to me that these two colors set the basis and clearly designate who's who between smaller children.

Speaking of whos who, once children are in pre-school, kindergarten, daycare, etc. they find themselves in a social setting. Once here, they gather a general consensus of what it means to be a boy or a girl from experience with other boys and girls. Personally, I think its all in the toys. Atleast, when I was a kid, I knew what it meant to be a boy just by playing with my GI Joe action figures. I felt incredibly masculine when battling it out with all my GI Joes; making gun noises and enacting battle scenes. It was clear to me then. I was in my own corner of the daycare center with my friend Tommy while the girls were always playing with dolls or playing house or something like that. We didnt pay much attention to them. Their interests were completely different from ours and therefore, we were able to distinguish ourselves apart from them.

Honestly, my familys impact on determining my gender role was a lot more subtle. I have two brothers and basically grew up in a house full of boys. The only woman around was my mom so I had no sisters to compare myself to. Yet, my family is from Texas and it seems that, when it comes to household duties, gender roles play a big part. For example, as long as I can remember, my mom has always been the one in charge of cooking and cleaning the house. My dad, my brothers and I did all the other dirty work like taking out the garbage, maintaining our land and fixing anything that was broken. I understand that most Oregonians would view this system as primitive but Id have them realize that Texans and many other southern states still operate in this traditional manner.Order College Papers on Gender Roles

As children, we are unable to clarify exactly what being a little girl or boy means by just looking down at our genitals. The society around us and the manner which we interact with that society seems to be the major deciding factor. Whether we like it or not, we are subject to influence even at a young age and whether it be the media, our peers or our families, we socially obtain information and, from there, personally define our own gender roles.

Please note that this sample paper on Gender Roles is for your review only. macbeth

This is the hardest letter that I have ever written. For once in my life my head is so full of things I can¡¯t think straight. I feel like how you used to be WEAK. I hate it I want to be strong but at the moment I am feeling strangely vulnerable.

I¡¯m alone without you. I feel like you don¡¯t need me anymore. I¡¯m useless to you. You didn¡¯t need me when you went to the witches about Lady Macduff and you didn¡¯t need me to plot Banquo¡¯s death. I said that You must leave this but you didn¡¯t take any notice. I still love you and I hate you but I still love you. I¡¯m not sure what I feel right now I am all confused.

Custom Essays on macbeth

I hated you when in the feast with all our guests and friends. Your mind pulled tricks on you and you claimed to see your dead friend. I was ashamed and embarrassed. I made excuses to the guest¡¯s about your behaviour but they wouldn¡¯t accept. You embarrassed me in front of everyone. I had to sort you out. I told you, You have displaced the mirth, broke the good meeting with most admired disorder. You deserved my wrath because you ruined the feast and nearly confessed to our sins.

I love you still because I still remember the good times when we were close and our heads were full of ambition and dreams of being king and queen. I remember the joy I had when I received your letter about the prophecies made about you becoming king. I asked the spirits to unsex me so my femine weakness would not spoil our ambition because I knew what had to be done.

I had no doubt in my mind when I planned Duncan¡¯s death after reading the letter. I knew that you would back away from this so I had to push you and give you courage such as when I told you to leave the rest to me without this you would have been worried about the consequences and probably would have not done it.

I bullied you to do want I wanted and I constantly insulted your masculinity and questioned your bravery to boost your courage as well. Now as a result my mind is full of things that I cannot explain. Images are sounds our circling in my head. I feel my feminine weakness is coming back. I am confused. I feel that I have written this letter again and again in a dream that I can¡¯t quite remember.

My life is ending. I cannot live with this confusion and sin. I tried to be brave and strong and I kept my pain inside me. It is like you and me have swapped. You were weak and I was strong. Now I think that I am weak and you have gained strength through my control of you. I really need you to give me strength. I want to be strong and in control. I have always liked it that way and now I feel that I can never have it again.

So what¡¯s the point of me living? I am useless. My ambition has gone. I still love you deeply so if I end my life I give you life because I am a holding you back. Our relationship is long gone and in my present state I could easily slip up and then some one will find the truth about the murders. I will miss you and I will miss being Queen. I still don¡¯t know now if I regret the murders all not. I am not sure about anything but I am certain what I should do now. So goodbye my love maybe I will see you again or maybe I will never see you whatever the outcome I will miss you.

Goodbye,

Yours lovingly

Lady Macbeth

Alcohol on the Human Body

Alcoholism is an illness involving the excessive use of alcoholic beverages, whether its a can of beer or other drinks such as vodka, and whiskey etc. It often affects a lot of people and their families. I will discuss the symptoms of alcoholism and the effects of alcoholism. My conclusion defines the treatment of the serious disease.

Alcoholism has often been thought of as a symptom of a psychological or social problem, or as a learned, behavior to cope with the everyday problems of peoples lives. More recently alcoholism has become a recognized disease of its own. Alcoholism usually develops over a period of a few years. Early symptoms include spending an excessive amount of limited income on alcohol. The availability of the alcohol influences the persons choice of friends and the things that they do. Alcohol becomes used as more of a relaxer than as a casual beverage. At first, the alcoholic may have a high tolerance of alcohol, drinking more and showing less effect than other drinkers. Alcohol begins to be more important than the persons relationships, work, or even their health. The person progresses by losing control over his drinking and is not able to control his habit. He drinks again to avoid the effects of a hangover.

The effects on major organ systems include a wide range of digestive disorders such ulcers, and inflammation of the pancreas. The nervous system can also be permanently damaged. Blackouts, hallucinations, and extreme tremors may occur to the person as a direct result of drinking alcohol. Studies have shown that heavy or even moderate drinking during pregnancy can cause serious damage to the unborn child. This is known as fetal alcohol syndrome or fetal alcohol effects. Write my Essay on Alcohol on the Human Body for me

About 10 percent of all the adult drinkers in the United States are considered alcoholics or they have some sort of drinking problems. The consumption of alcohol is

currently raising the United States and other countries like the U.S.S.R. and some of the Europeans countries. There is also an increase of alcohol related problems in other nations, including the Third World (www.gmu.edu/fascstaff/faculty/1-1/alcohsm.html).

Specialized treatment facilities within general or psychiatric hospitals are rapidly increasing in number. Earlier and better treatment has led to higher recovery rates. In addition to physical complications and withdrawal symptoms, treatment involves counseling and group therapy. Also sometimes drugs such as antabuse can be used to treat alcoholism. Antabuse is a drug that produces a violent intolerance for alcohol as long as the substance remains in the body and is sometimes used after withdrawal (www.alcoholism.about.com/library/faq/blquestion1.html). The annual numbers of deaths related to excessive drinking exceed 7,000 in the United States alone. Economic costs related to alcoholism are at least $100 billion a year (Donatelle 6).

The following facts should help describe alcoholism such a very serious disease, not be taken lightly. This disease can be completely avoided if a person never picks up a drink.
